The 1948 Brno Sporter
A Czech commercial bolt-action, dated by stamps and proof marks to 1948 — pre-Communist-era production, since rebarreled to a modern North American hunting cartridge.
A Czech commercial sporter, vintage Nikon glass, and roughly four hundred sixty rounds of factory 7mm-08 — passed from a father's safe to a worthy hand.
This rifle was given to my father by a friend several years ago. He stocked up on ammunition with intentions, as hunters do — boxes for elk, boxes for deer, boxes for the year he might draw a tag — but he never carried it into the field. To my knowledge it has been sitting quietly in his safe ever since.
Dad passed in March of 2026. I would rather see this kit go to someone who will actually use it — climb a ridge with it, sight a buck through the glass, put the ammo to work — than leave it sitting in a safe again. That is the spirit of the sale.
What follows is an honest account of what is included, what it is, and what I am asking for it. The rifle is not a museum piece, the scope is not a Swarovski, and the truck of ammo is mostly working-class brands. But it is a complete, ready-to-hunt setup at a price that respects both you and what my father built.

A working hunter's scope on a vintage American base — mounted and ready; zero should be verified at the range.
Twenty-five boxes of factory 7mm-08 Remington — all in original packaging, mixed brands and bullet weights to cover everything from light deer loads to heavier elk work. Honest disclosure: three boxes (one each of PPU, Remington, and HSM) are roughly half-full; the remaining twenty-two appear full but have not been individually counted. Best estimate: ~460 rounds total.
Variable spotting scope with hard case and mini tabletop tripod. A working hunter's spotter for glassing distant ridgelines or watching impacts at the range. Functional, reliable, no frills.
A functional case for transporting the rifle home. Nothing fancy — but it is included so you do not need to buy one to walk it out the door.
The component retail value is shown below in good faith. Sold separately, the parts would clear closer to $2,000. The whole package is being offered at a working hunter's price.
